Contract Price of Gas (“CPG”) shall be calculated using the following formula;

 

CPG = MRP x (1+ a) + T + D

Where:

 

CPG The applicable Contract Price for Gas delivered expressed in RM/GJ.

 
MRP MRP is Malaysia Reference Price which is the unit of the weighted average price of LNG exported from Malaysia on a free on board basis as declared by the Department of Statistics Malaysia (“DOSM”); This is derived by dividing the total export value (in RM) of LNG by the total export volume (in MT) of LNG for the Reference Period.

 

In any given year, Gas delivered in each Applicable Period shall refer to its corresponding Reference Period as follows:

 

Applicable Period Reference Period
January, February, March September to November of the preceding year
April, May, June December of the preceding year to February of the year
July, August, September March to May of the year
October, November, December June to August of the year

 

The applicable price will be published and applied at the beginning of every new quarter of the calendar year. For example, MRP for Q1 2022 will be published in January 2022 and is applicable for Q1 2022.

·         Under “Publications”, click on “Free Download”

·         Create your User Profile / Account

·         Log in to eStatistik with your newly created credentials

·         For Main Category, select “Economy” from the drop-down menu

·         For Sub-Category, select “External Trade” from the drop-down menu

·         Under “Title of Publications”, select “Monthly External Trade Statistics, Malaysia Click on “Jadual / Table” to download the MS Excel sheet.

·         Refer to the Table 15 and Table 16 sheet tabs for the monthly LNG values and volumes.

·         In the Table 15 sheet tab, look for “Liquefied Natural Gas” under Type of Commodities to retrieve the LNG Export quantity in RM million.

·         In the Table 16 sheet tab, look for “Liquefied Natural Gas” under Type of Commodities to retrieve the LNG Export value in ‘000 tonne.

 

Calculation of 3-month average MRP:

 

MRP (RM/MMBtu) = LNG Export FOB Value (RM) for 3 months / [ LNG Export Quantity (tonne) for 3 months x Conversion Factor ]
